Maybe it’ll help you too.

// CHAPTER ONE

Who we are

Andrew and David Rogier

We are two brothers — Andrew and David Rogier — who stutter.

Andrew is in product management at Instacart, and was at LinkedIn before that. Andrew stutters most when he’s nervous.

David founded and runs MasterClass. He stutters most when he’s exhausted or feeling vulnerable.

// CHAPTER TWO

Research

We have no evidence this app actually helps. We vibe coded it over a few weekends to help us. We found it does, so we wanted to share. We did tons of deep research on stuttering. Here’s what we found and used:

  1. 01 A great speech pathologist is very helpful.
  2. 02 Stuttering help breaks into two categories: helping you stutter less, and helping with the psychological impact of stuttering.
  3. 03 Based on what we found, the two most helpful approaches are: (1) the Camperdown Program for speech practice, and (2) CBT for the psychological side. We included both.
  4. 04 Stuttering isn’t bad. We aren’t broken.
  5. 05 Keep the data as private as possible.

// THE PAPERS WE FOUND MOST HELPFUL

  • The Camperdown Program (Australian Stuttering Research Centre, UTS)
  • CBTPsych and iGlebe (digital CBT trials for stuttering)
  • OASES (Yaruss & Quesal — measuring impact, not severity)
  • Tichenor & Yaruss on the internal experience of stuttering
  • Constantino et al. on spontaneity
  • The CARE Model (Constantino — Communication, Advocacy, Resiliency, Education)
  • Sisskin’s ARTS framework
  • Iverach et al. on social anxiety prevalence in adults who stutter

// CHAPTER THREE

What it does

three things. less than 90 seconds of extra effort per meeting.

// FIG. 01 — DURING A MEETING

Pace monitor during a video call

// BEFORE

A 60-second questionnaire based on CBT research. What are you trying to accomplish? What’s your biggest fear? Naming it ahead of time makes it smaller.

// DURING

A small window in the corner of your screen shows your speech rate. The research is clear that monitoring your pace helps. We don’t measure fluency. We don’t count stutters.

// AFTER

A 30-second wrap-up. Did the thing you feared actually happen? (Spoiler: usually no.) This part is the most underrated.

// FIG. 02 — PRACTICE MODE

Practice mode interface

Plus, a practice module if you want to work on technique outside of real meetings.

It sounds simple. The research says it works. So does our experience.

The beta

50 spotsfreefirst come

We’re capping it at 50 people for now, so we can pay attention to feedback and not let the bills get out of hand. Free during the beta.

You’ll find bugs. Things will be janky. We use this every day, so if it breaks for you, it’s broken for us too. Email us: hello@joinblock.party. We read everything.

If we hit 50 before you sign up, we’ll add you to the waitlist and email you when a spot opens up.

This is a beta. We’re funding it ourselves. Costs add up fast — especially the speech transcription that powers the live monitor. To keep this sustainable for everyone, we may suspend access for individual users whose usage spikes, or end the beta entirely if costs become unmanageable.
