Block Party is a practice tool for adults who stutter, built by two brothers who stutter. Your voice and your reflections are about as personal as data gets. This page explains — in plain language — what we collect, what we do with it, and what we will never do with it.

What we collect

Account: your email address and an optional name. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us.

Pace data: your calibrated baseline speaking pace and, for each Pace Companion session, numerical summaries only — average pace, time in / above / below your target band, and session duration.

Practice recordings: audio you deliberately record in Practice Mode. Each recording is stored in a private, access-controlled folder that only your account can read. You can delete any recording at any time, and we automatically delete recordings older than 30 days (your session notes and self-ratings are kept).

Reflections: your answers to pre- and post-meeting prompts — predictions, outcomes, anxiety ratings, and notes. These are visible only to your account.

Calendar events: if you connect Google Calendar (read-only access), we store event titles and start/end times to schedule your meeting prompts. We never see or store attendees, descriptions, or anything else.

Waitlist: if the beta is full, just your email — so we can tell you when a spot opens.

Where your voice goes

Pace Companion (live monitoring): audio streams directly from your browser to AssemblyAI, our speech-analysis provider. It never passes through or gets stored on our servers. AssemblyAI transcribes it to measure pace and retains nothing — our account is opted out of model training, which AssemblyAI has confirmed means zero retention of audio and transcripts. Only the pace numbers come back to us.

Calibration: the short reading you record to set your baseline passes through our server in memory on its way to AssemblyAI. It is never written to disk or stored anywhere.

Practice Mode: the only audio we keep, because you chose to record it. Private to your account, deletable anytime.

What we will never do

We will never score your fluency. We will never sell your data — not your email, not your recordings, not anything. We show no ads. We run no analytics or tracking of any kind: no Google Analytics, no pixels, no session replay, nothing watching how you use the app.

Cookies

We set only strictly-necessary cookies: the authentication cookies that keep you logged in (named sb-*-auth-token, set by Supabase). There are no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. We also use your browser's local storage to remember your calibrated pace and carry your pre-meeting answers to the post-meeting screen — that data stays on your device.

Who else touches your data

Four service providers, each doing one job: Supabase (database, authentication, and recording storage), AssemblyAI (speech-to-pace analysis, zero retention), Google (calendar, read-only, only if you connect it), and Vercel (hosting). If you enable meeting reminders, your browser's push service delivers the notifications.

Your rights

You can delete individual recordings and sessions in the app. To delete your entire account and everything attached to it, or to get a copy of your data, email hello@joinblock.party and we'll take care of it promptly. Disconnecting Google Calendar can also be done anytime from your Google account permissions.

Retention & security

We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when your account is deleted. All data is encrypted in transit, and every table is protected by row-level security so one account can never read another's data.

Who this is for

Block Party is for adults — you must be 18 or older to use it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and for anything significant we'll email you. Questions? hello@joinblock.party.
